WARNING: Ignoring This Post May Be Hazardous to Your Health
I had to sit with this post for a few days. I was feeling frustrated with our Administration, the corporate food lobby, and those who are asleep to the truth about the takeover of our food supply by corporate interests. But, it is my goal, as a member of the Bee Wild team, to educate and suggest positive changes you can make to impact yourself and your family. So, I had to deal with my righteous anger so that together we have the chance of creating something better. This is the responsible way to insure that our actions positively effect future generations.
The Importance of Pollinators
Louis Schwartzberg, Nature photographer and advocate, states in his TEDTalk that
We depend on pollinators for over a third of the fruits and vegetables that we eat, and many scientists believe it’s (colony collapse disorder) the most serious issue facing mankind. It’s like the canary in the coal mine. If they disappear, so do we.
I would like to share his amazing presentation with you so that you, too, can “fall in love” with pollinators. In my view, your descendants’ survival could depend on your relationship with these magnificent creatures. https://blog.beewild.buzz/tedtalks-have-you-watched-them/
The Issue: Pollinators vs. Pesticides and GMOs
Over the past several months several organizations and causes I carefully follow have campaigned to stop the Congress and Administration from allowing pesticide companies to continue to develop and market pesticides that are killing pollinators. What is even more damning, in my opinion, is that these same companies have developed genetically modified organisms (GMOs), such as the “frankenfish,” which tolerate the pesticides they create, look like nutritious food, but cannot be digested by our bodies. The body considers these foods to be toxic and often will go into overdrive to eliminate the toxins. This overload creates inflammation in the body. See the work of Dr. Joseph Mercola, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Carolyn Dean, and David Wolfe to begin your own research. There are a plethora of health and alternative health care professionals who are educated about food and healing inflammation caused by consuming processed and other unnatural foods.
My Experience with Processed Foods and GMOs
As an energy healer with almost three decades of experience, I truthfully can say that the number of people I meet with chronic health challenges such as arthritis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and cancer markedly has increased over the years. The first thing I have my clients do is stop eating processed foods and add naturally-grown, organic, local, seasonal foods to their diet. Even these small dietary changes net huge results.
The reason I know eliminating unnaturally produced food from one’s diet works is that I have had chronic health challenges for many years. My alternative health care professionals recommended:
- elimination of processed foods and GMOs;
- the addition of local, seasonal, organic food;
- making my own yogurt and cultured vegetables and adding them to my eating plan;
- drinking more pure water;
- and supplementing protein, vitamins and minerals.
I have significantly changed what I eat, and the results speak for themselves. After 8 years of healing work after my electrocution, I am out of the wheelchair, have lost over 130 lbs. after weight loss surgery, and am contributing to life.
Why Is This Discussion Crucial Now?
Discussing pollinators, colony collapse disorder, pesticides killing bees, GMOs, corporate agri-farming, and our Congress’s and Administration’s lack of appropriate response to hundreds of thousands of citizens contacting them to protect small family farming, to eliminate GMOs and pesticides, and to protect bees and other pollinators has reached THE BOILING POINT! Slowly but surely our food choices are disappearing through Government intervention. Natural, wholesome food, the food our grandparents grew and fed us, is being regulated off our tables and out of stores.
At the end of last month, President Obama signed into law the Monsanto Protection Act. Here is one of many articles you can find: http://growtest.org/2013/03/29/obama-signature-on-monsanto-protection-act-ignites-massive-activism/ As of this writing, many groups are advocating for more food choices, despite Monsanto receiving blanket legal protection. Additionally, activists are meeting in Washington, DC on Earth Day, April 22, to advocate for pollinators.
On these crucial issues, one person’s voice, added to hundreds of thousands of other individual voices, can make a difference. Will you educate yourself, discern the truth, act for you and your loved ones? If you are reading this article, you are being called to make a difference on this issue. Will you?
