Qsine on Celebrity’s Summit –
Thursday’s Restaurant Review
We had the pleasure of having one of the most fun restaurant experiences when we cruised around the South Caribbean on Celebrity’s Summit over Christmas. Thursday’s Restaurant Review talks about our shipboard dinner at Qsine.
If you are a foodie, like we are, Qsine is going to tickle your taste buds and ignite your imagination. We walked into Qsine, and were at first startled by the stark orange, black, and white décor and the upside down lamps and chandelier hanging from the ceiling. But, the way the decorating theme was carried through in great detail throughout the restaurant grew on us. We certainly loved the industrial place mats and theme-related glassware.
The menu comes to you on an iPad. (The Summit actually has an operating Apple store and educational center on board.) Icons represent the various food items, and my partner and I started negotiating our favorites until we agreed on four items, some small dishes, others larger plates.
The first plate the arrived was the spring rolls, and they were served in paper cones which were set into serving dishes made with industrial springs. Absolutely delightful!!! I think I liked the vegetable spring roll best, but Tolen got a kick out of the Baby Back Spring Roll.
We then had the Lava Crab. The waiter efficiently broke the crab cake open to reveal the crab and sauce flowing from the inside of the cake. This dish was very tasty, and I particularly liked the texture which was smoother than the lump crab I usually get served down south.
Tolen had the lobster escargot. At this particular sitting the escargot were replaced with shrimp. Very nice buttery, garlic sauce on the lobster. By the time we finished this plate, we were pretty full.
Then, our large dish came, Chitini’s. The innovative handmade serving piece housed several martini glasses filled with various Chinese dishes. We really liked the orange chicken, and the sauces that came in squeeze bottles with the plate completed the industrial-themed serving.
Tolen finished with the Surprise dessert, one of the offerings on the cardboard Rubric’s cube. It was a lovely hot apple crumble with homemade ice cream. Yummo!!!
Qsine by far was the best dining experience we had onboard the Summit, and you could tell by the attention to detail that an James Beard Award winning chef was its creator. Bravo to the Celebrity organization for an amazing dining experience!!!!
