My Experience with Thrive Market
I’m working to bring my body to another level of wellness, and one of my health mentors, Dr. Kathryn Lawson, suggested that I clear my eating plan of all foods my body might see as allergens. She explained that when I removed gluten, dairy, soy, corn, and the nightshade family (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, etc.) from my menu plan, I would no longer kick off an immune response to my food. In this way, I could reset my body’s systems. The good news is that you only do this strict eating program for 8 weeks. The bad news for me is since I already have a compromised digestive system from an abdominal surgery, my food choices decrease dramatically.
So, I phoned a dear sister from another mother who had done this healing work with her food before. She shared many quick, easy recipes with me, mentioning ingredients I don’t normally stock in my pantry. After all, I didn’t even know what coconut aminos were, let alone where to find them. I had no idea you could bake with almond flour, and the closest real food stores are over an hour away from my home. With my schedule 2 hours of driving on top of shopping time isn’t particularly doable. That’s why “my little Sis” recommended Thrive Market. She said that I could get great healthy products online, for a fraction of what I would spend going to real food stores. Even better than that, a low income family gets a market membership when I purchase one. How could it get any better than that?
The Thrive Market Process
“My little Sis” gave me a link to shop at Thrive, and it is easy to shop online there. Products are organized by holiday, category, and selects. They have a search box to look for specific products. I used the search box to find, “coconut aminos.” It was quick and effective.
I shopped, knowing from “my little Sis,” that my 30 day trial was free and I would be getting 25% off my first order and free shipping (for orders over $49). It took me about 20 minutes to find the items I was looking for. I paid with my debit card. My order went through late Monday afternoon and was delivered first thing on Friday morning.
As a green shopper, I was thrilled with the package. Thrive uses green packing materials, and the resealable plastic bags they use to protect liquids will come in handy later (as dust covers for items I store away). More importantly, when I opened the box, there was a reminder that when I become a member, a low income family will be given a membership.
You might not get the value of this benefit for me and a low income family. So, let me explain. Were I to shop at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods, the same items I purchased from Thrive would have been at least twice as expensive plus I would have had to pay for gas for the car and take the time to drive and then walk the store. Since Thrive doesn’t have a middle man between the food producer and Thrive, you get almost $100 worth of healthy food items for $50 and never leave your home. This is a huge saving, and I feel very excited about the possibilities.
Thrive Market’s Giving Ethic
Thrive Market’s giving ethic is so in tune with our new Bee Wild brand. It’s a match made in heaven, as I can shop and give at the same time. To summarize my experience – when I can buy healthy food at a substantial discount, do online shopping with free or low cost shipping, and support a low income family, it’s a Five Star Win for me!!! I highly recommend Thrive Market. The deep savings and giving ethic far outweighs the bother of the small yearly shopping fee ($59.95). With a happiness guarantee, Thrive is an experience you just can’t afford to miss!!!
