Rosebud Atlanta – Local, Seasonal Food; Great Service
We had the pleasure of meeting Ron Eyester, the award-winning owner/chef of Rosebud Atlanta at an Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau event. He was knowledgeable about local farmers, how to prepare tasty, clean, seasonal food, and a great conversationalist. Ron’s a great representative of his restaurant, and we’ve since had the pleasure of eating there on several occasions.
The first time we went to Rosebud for weekend brunch. I had the Springer Mountain fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. This was a clean version of a Southern classic, with buttermilk giving the chicken a tangy taste. My roommate had shrimp and grits, another Southern staple. The shrimp were well-cooked, and the grits were smooth and creamy.
We then took my roommate’s Dad to Rosebud for Thanksgiving dinner. The meal was served family style and was superb. We started with an appetizer tray. My favorite was the pimento cheese spread. Then, each guest was able to choose between a turkey and ham entree. The entrees were accompanied by our choice of several traditional Southern side dishes, prepared with a gourmet flair and served family style. Our favorite was the duck fat and thyme roasted fingerling potatoes. Chef Ron and his staff coaxed some amazing flavors into this dish.
What continues to impress us the most was that every staff member from Chef Ron down can give you details of where Rosebud purchases its food, how the ingredients were prepared, and what wines enhance the meal. Staff have a very customer-oriented attitude. No request goes unfulfilled, all with a cheerful attitude. That’s why this year we are going to repeat our Thanksgiving experience by having dinner at Rosebud again.
Rosebud’s website is very cutting edge, and we highly recommend reading the blog. I wish they would blog more often, but the articles are very good reading.
We give Rosebud Atlanta a 5 Star rating!!! Delicious, clean food; good people who know the local food scene.
