Where in the World is John Wright?
At Our Team’s Real Food “CookaThon”
Many readers and customers ask us, “Where in the World is John Wright?” Yes, he’s been traveling more but was at the Brookhaven Cherry Festival last weekend. He also makes time for one of his favorite activities, batch cooking at our team’s Real Food “CookaThon.”
“CookaThon?” Batch Cooking?
Since many of Bee Wild’s team members commit to eating real food, we decided to meet once a month and do a “CookaThon.” That’s where team members get together and divide the work of creating menus, distributing recipes, creating shopping lists, shopping, and cooking food for the week and food preserving. We batch cook, meaning we make large portions of a soup, broth, or stew; eat some; freeze some; and then use the protein and vegetables for other dishes.
Here is the menu we just made:
- Ina Garten’s Chicken Stock
- Ina Garten’s Chicken Soup
- Billie’s Chicken Salad
- Primack Red Pepper Paste
- Primack Excellent Health Raw Smoothie
Here’s the amount of food we produced over the day:
- Several quarts of amazing chicken stock (for soup and freezing in quart bags)
- Several quarts of awesome chicken soup with late winter and early spring veggies (for meals and freezing)
- A huge bowl of chicken salad, made with one of the chickens we removed from the stock at 1 hour of cooking time
- About a quart of Primack Red Pepper Paste which we are using as a condiment and sauce base
- Several packages of ingredients that all we have to do is pop in our Vitamix for a tasty and healthy raw food smoothie
For Busy People, A “CookaThon” is the Bomb!
Since we are all so busy, dividing activities and spending a day cooking enough food for a few weeks is a time and energy saver. We produce high quality, real food, using local, organic, seasonal fruits, vegetables, and healing herbs. We are also increasing the amount of phytonutrients and energy in our food by adding the Red Pepper Paste and Excellent Health Raw Food Smoothie to our menus. Defrosting and reheating the food is simple, easy, and fast. What’s even better are the results are so yummy! Here’s John Wright testing the first bowl of soup:
