Belly Fat? The D Burn Solution
I’ve had a lot of trouble with stubborn belly fat. After losing over 150 lbs. post-duodenal switch (a very effective but little known weight loss surgery), I still had a tire of fat around my middle. I’ve tried just about everything to get rid of this fat, and it’s stubborn and just wouldn’t go away.
So, when Haylie Pomroy’s new book, The Burn, came out, I read it from cover to cover. With the belly fat and surgically created digestive challenges, I decided to try the D Burn. After all, I had great results with her weight loss program in the past. Here is my review of my experience.
My Experience with the D Burn
What I Liked:
- Haylie Pomroy is an highly respected food coach. She is an expert in how your body works and what to feed your body when you desire change. The list of her successful clients is legendary. So, being coached, through her book, was amazing. I highly recommend reading her books for an understanding of wellness and real food.
- I lost 11 lbs and 4 inches around my waist (one dress size) in five days.
- The indigestion I’ve been plagued with for years settled down.
- The food was delicious. I followed all the recipes religiously, feeding myself and my roommate. I enjoyed the food and didn’t feel like I was eating “diet” fare. The menus contained real food, prepared well.
- I actually felt physically better when I drank half my body weight in ounces of water every day. I feel like I was a bit dehydrated, because I don’t always pay enough attention to my hydration.
- I felt full during the five days.
- The program only last five days.
- I liked the boosts. I tried reflexology, cleansing baths with clay and epsom salts, olive and oregano oil supplements, and adding kale to just about everything. My favorite boost was dry skin brushing, followed by a hot shower with our Fresh Citrus Honey Body Products.
What Was Challenging:
- The program is time consuming. I was really stressed out at the amount of time I had to find to prepare the food, since my schedule already was busy.
- Since my stomach is only the size of a banana because of the surgery, it was a lot of food (3 meals with two snacks). This made it quite challenging to drink 2 1/2 quarts of water a day in addition to eating all the food.
- I felt like I was eating all day and night long, since I can only eat a small amount at a time. To get the recommended amounts of food in, I was eating and eating. (Since I work from home, this was manageable. But, I wondered how those who work outside the home would manage.)
- I really had to budget to insure that I had all organic food.
- This is not an easy “you can eat out” type food program.
Recommendations:
Since the D Burn only last five days and the weight and fat loss are significant, I would recommend trying it. I probably would have repeated the D Burn again if I had the ability and budget to have someone else do the food preparation. Quite frankly, some of the nutritional and self-care habits Ms. Pomroy talked about should be incorporated by all women into their busy life style. This is food for thought for multi-taskers like me.
