Bee Wild Review:
Have Fun with the Newsmaker Line Comedy Show
A few of the Bee Wild team members have gone outside the perimeter to Houck’s Grille in Roswell to see Kimmer Show veteran Jim Gossett’s Newsmaker Line Comedy Show. We have really enjoyed these evenings which are filled with music, singing along, laughs shared with the Kimmer, and impressions and jokes from Jim Gossett. Here’s a sample of one segment of the show:
Review of Houck’s Grille
The Newsmaker Line Comedy Show is in a large private event room, with bar, in the back of the restaurant. Showgoers start arriving around 6:00 p.m. and start ordering food and drink. The food is excellent – very fresh and well-prepared. There are many choices on the seasonal menu, even for those eaters who are gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan. We really enjoy the Spring Spinach and Original Houck’s salads. The greens were crispy, ingredients well thought out, and dressings light and tasty. My current favorite dish is their famous Southern fried chicken. I like that the chicken breast is boneless with a “drummy” style wing. The coating was crispy, well-seasoned, and oil free. My roomie’s current favorite dish is Blackened Mountain Trout. The fish was fresh caught. The veggies were tasty and well-prepared.
We don’t drink alcohol, so we can’t comment on the adult beverages except to say that friends we’ve brought to the Newsmaker Line Comedy Show have enjoyed the many beers, cocktails, and wines.
With over a hundred people in the room, Houck’s has done a great job of having an adequate number of servers. They are very familiar with the menu and are flexible when special requests are made. I found the service to be efficient and friendly. I really enjoy that the servers enhance the festive atmosphere of the show without distracting attendees.
Review of the Newsmaker Line Comedy Show
If you are at all familiar with the Atlanta radio scene, the Kimmer has been a popular figure for many years. The Newsmaker Line has been a part of the Kimmer Show since its inception, and Jim Gossett’s impeccable comedy timing and impressions have lifted many a day. Jim is extremely talented, and we laugh until we almost cry at his pithy caricatures of the famous.
The opening act is Johnny Parrazzo, keyboardist extraordinaire. We always enjoy the sing-a-longs that he puts together to warm us up for the Kimmer and Jim.
I have to say that the comedy is very irreverent, and there is not subject that is so taboo that Jim won’t poke fun at it. So, be prepared to laugh, despite whatever opinions you hold. Jim is just that funny.
For a great Saturday night date filled with good food, laughter, music, and fun, I highly recommend The Newsmaker Line Comedy Show!!!
