A Good Strategy to Cut Research Time –
Don’t Skip Newsletters
Good morning!!! QueenBee here!!! The topic that came up for me today is newsletters.
I get that everyone is busy and that finding time can be challenging. After all, don’t we all do are best to fulfill multiple roles every day – business owner/employee, family member, wellness seeker, grocery shopper, food preparer, house cleaner, environmental activitist…? So, how can you do the research it takes to make better choices for wellness and sustainability when you have limited time? One of the ways I begin collecting information is through skimming newsletters.
Why Are Newsletters a Good Information Resource?
Typically, skilled newsletter writers are good at aggregating information. That means they comb through current research, make sure information is valid, pick up current trends, and summarize what they find. What’s great about this is that the newsletter writer does the heavy lifting, and then all you have to do is skim the newsletter. If you find a post that interests you, you can do a more in-depth read.
Let Me Give You an Example
One of my commitments for the year is to go to great levels of wellness. I’m into holistic, alternative methods. But, with such a busy life, I always don’t have time to research current trends, read product reviews, and find recipes to incorporate products into my lifestyle. That’s why this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find Whole Foods Market’s newsletter in my email box. When I opened their email, I found five wellness-related articles:
- 8 Ways to Fuel Your Fitness
- Do a Body Good, Fast
- 10 Most Popular Type of Supplements
- GMO Fast Facts
- Our Top 10 Resources for Gluten Free Eating (This is the article I read since I just decided gluten-free is the way to go for me.)
three recipe recommendations, and some helpful store-related information.
QueenBee’s Suggestion
So, before you automatically delete a newsletter, take a moment to skim it’s contents. If something catches your eye, set it aside for a more thorough review later. This is a good strategy for cutting your research time!
