One of our latest body products, Honey Body Glow – Fresh Citrus , is a luscious blend of Himalayan Salt, raw Bee Wild Honey, and a proprietary blend of citrus essential oils. So, we would like to take this opportunity to talk about Citrus Essential Oils.

As you can see by this post, essential oils have been used for cosmetics, perfumes, and personal care products for thousands of years. So, there is a plethora of information about various essential oils, how they interact with each other, and what you can expect when you use them.
Citrus essential oils are made from pressing fruit peels. As many cooks can testify, orange, lemon, lime, and other citrus peels have strong, recognizable fragrances. All one has to do is imagine picking up a lemon or orange in the grocery store. The memory of these smells is unforgettable. Additionally, since there is a large variety of citrus fruits, one can make a citrus essential oil with flavors from tart to sweet.
Grapefruit, lemons, and limes have all been used in detoxifying the body. For example, many nutritional programs recommend drinking warm lemon water upon waking in the morning in order to clear the system and encourage good digestion. Grapefruit are diuretic, and many people use grapefruit to create the feeling of being full in their weight loss programs. Limes tend to be restorative and toning.
I’ve had a long time healing relationship with orange essential oil. Inhaling the orange scent aids people with depression, bringing them a sense of peace and joy. Additionally, in Eastern cultures oranges represent abundance and are used in decor to encourage all forms of abundance.
Many citrus essential oils are used as the top note in a fragrance and are mixed with other scents. In our Honey Body Glow, bergamot is one of the middle notes for our blend. While citrusy, bergamot uplifts and relaxes. This is probably why I love Earl Grey tea so much – bergamot is one of its main flavor components.
