Thanksgiving Gratitude Teaching
A Gift from QueenBee
As we come into the holiday season, I would like to gift you with a Thanksgiving Gratitude Teaching. If you follow this one teaching, your life will improve dramatically.
Over 25 years ago I wrote a small booklet, Gratitude is a God-Centered Attitude, and I gave the booklet to all my clients and workshop attendees, never realizing that Gratitude would become a foundational teaching mentioned by every spiritual growth and development coach. In my own life, I’ve come to realize that Gratitude is one of the keys to having it all, and I thought sharing a simple practice would add value to your life during the holidays.
Gratitude and grace both have the same Latin root word, gratus. My mentors always taught me that the more I expressed gratitude, the more grace I’d have in my life. At the time, it seemed counter-intuitive. After all, when things were going wrong, wasn’t I supposed to pray about that in detail and ask for relief? But, what I’ve found over time is that prayers of gratitude are more effective than anything else I’ve ever done. See Gregg Braden’s work, such as The Lost Mode of Prayer, and/or view the research developed on this subject by http://www.heartmath.org.
Gratitude Journal
To me, grace is the free gift of God (however you define that word), given out of love, whether I deserve it or not. So, increasing grace in my life has always made sense to me, and I have found that grace, through gratitude, has created miracles in my life. That is why I keep a Gratitude Journal, and I hope you will consider this practice now.
I keep my Gratitude Journal in a Gratitude App on my iPhone now. But, I originally started with a little 3″ x 5″ notebook that I carried in my purse. When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is write down 5 things I’m grateful for. Then, during the day, I look for things that I consider blessings and write those in the journal, too. Before I go to bed at night, I read my Gratitude Journal and add 5 more things I’m grateful for.
When clients are in emotionally difficult situations, finding 5 things to be grateful for can seem challenging. So, I tell them to find one thing and write that down 5 times. Making the commitment to look for blessings in every experience and acknowledge them is what catalyzes elegant change.
Now, I even take this practice one step further. I asked myself the question, “What if I could be grateful for everything? How would that change my life?” It’s easy to be grateful for the experiences we like. It’s not so easy to be grateful for the situations we have that are painful. But, how much more powerful would our gratitude be if it was for every experience?
We, at Bee Wild, are grateful that you connected with us. Please accept our Thanksgiving Gratitude Teaching in the spirit of love and peace.
